Corporate Entities’ Reaction to the Government’s Net Zero 2070 Goal
摘要
A major component of India's Panchamrit project, which was presented during COP26, is the government's objective of reaching net zero carbon emissions by 2070. This article looks at the extent to which Indian firms responded to this goal. The Union Budget 2023 of the Indian government allotted 35,000 crores for energy transformation, highlighting the vital role that corporations play in lowering greenhouse gas emissions. In order to fulfil the net zero targets, the study highlights the carbon emission policies of prominent businesses including Indian Railways, Mahindra & Mahindra, Tata Consultancy Services, and Reliance. Indian businesses are investing more in renewable energy, carbon capture, and energy efficiency as a means of integrating sustainability into their business models, despite obstacles like inadequate infrastructure and green funding. These companies’ combined efforts along with the Government’s initiatives and technological support are vital to achieving both national and international climate targets, as well as to the sustainability and competitiveness of India in the future.
