This chapter explores the experimental site where the neutrino-induced nuclear fission experiment is deployed. The experiment takes place at Oak Ridge National Laboratory’s Spallation Neutron Source (SNS) as a part of the COHERENT collaboration. We start with a brief history of the COHERENT collaboration beginning with the discovery of the collaboration’s namesake process of coherent elastic neutrino-nucleus scattering (CEvNS). A brief review follows of the COHERENT detector systems that are directly relevant to the neutrino-induced nuclear fission measurement. These detectors either share the same core technologies as the neutrino-induced nuclear fission instrument or help to constrain shared systematics that impact all neutrino measurements taking place in the SNS facility.

摘要
