The Mamas and The Papas—California Dreamin’: When the Song Expresses Similar Meaning in Unrelated Films
摘要
Continuing with the discussion of the same pop song being used in different films, the English language song “California Dreamin’” by The Mamas and The Papas will be the main musical case study in this chapter. It is used in the following films—Forrest Gump (Robert Zemeckis, 1993), Chungking Express (重庆森林, Wong Kar-wai, 1994), and Run for Love (奔爱, Zhang Yibai, Guan Hu, Zhang Meng, Teng Huatao, and Gao Qunshu, 2016). Additionally, another version by Sia appeared as background music in the film trailer and ending song of San Andreas (Brad Peyton, 2015).
