How should we regard Hegel today? This last chapter is a summing up of how we should take Hegel in our times. Hegel is right to be condemned as a racists, sexist Eurocentric. Yet he remains of value because he has a large-scale vision of history and society, according to which he imagines social recognition of human freedom to be central. Hence his overall view of society and world history can be used if aspects of his theorising are criticised and to develop a critical but powerful reading of Hegel for our own time.

摘要

How should we regard Hegel today? This last chapter is a summing up of how we should take Hegel in our times. Hegel is right to be condemned as a racists, sexist Eurocentric. Yet he remains of value because he has a large-scale vision of history and society, according to which he imagines social recognition of human freedom to be central. Hence his overall view of society and world history can be used if aspects of his theorising are criticised and to develop a critical but powerful reading of Hegel for our own time.
