The State of the Western Negev Versus the State of Israel
摘要
In this chapter, we present and analyze Otef Aza residents’ perspectives on the government, citizens from other parts of the country, mainstream media and the leadership of the IDF and the national security institutions. We found that in the original study, residents felt invisible, and were angered and frustrated by this invisibility. In the follow-up study, we found even deeper anger toward the government, coupled with a strong sense of abandonment. However, we no longer observed criticism of the media or of other residents/civil society from outside the Otef. We did find that residents had lost their trust in the military and security leadership, no longer perceiving them as providing security, which was a marked difference from the findings of the original study.
