This chapter explores central values discerned in both studies that connect to the lives of Otef Aza residents: mutual concern, volunteerism, activism, and creation. These values were expressed in extensive activity in and for their communities and for the region. In the first study, the mutual aid and help that the residents offered connected to their identity, and appeared to help them cope with the emergency routine of their lives. These abilities took on additional significance after October 7th, when residents were consumed by trauma on the deepest level, while also feeling the need to act, perhaps as a way to try to process what they had experienced, and move forward with life, to some extent. Several examples of this mutual concern, volunteering and creation from both time periods are presented.
