This chapter presents Otef Aza residents’ thoughts and feelings about the future of the Otef. In the original study, almost everyone said that the future of the region “would be the same or worse.” After October seventh, however, we heard different voices. We divided these understandings and feelings into two levels: (1) the way the person felt about their personal relation to the area, in general, and to their communities, in specific; and (2) the way they perceived the social-political-economic future of their community and the region, in the short and long-term. In the chapter, we provide examples of these differing perspectives.
