Abiotic stresses are among the most significant challenges limiting crop production. These stresses adversely affect plant growth and development, leading to devastating economic losses and threatening global food security. To meet the demand of growing population in a changing climate, it is estimated that crop yield must increase by about 70%. In the challenging condition of increased food insecurity, reduction in agricultural land, and deleterious effects of climate change on agricultural productivity, developing crops with enhanced resilience to abiotic stress is crucial to for sustainable agricultural practices and food security. Plant under abiotic stress conditions often suffer from multiple stress factors simultaneously, such as drought and salinity or drought along with nutrient and heat stress. These combined stresses can have interactive effects, worsening the plant growth and productivity. To decipher the global mechanisms of plant response to stress, multi-omics approach is necessary. This chapter explores the potential of integrating multi-omics to develop crops that are resilient to abiotic stress. It covers the current state of research, highlight successful studies, and outlines future directions for utilizing these advanced technologies in crop improvement. By harnessing the power of multi-omics, we can create innovative strategies to boost crop resilience and productivity, thereby contributing to global food security amidst increasing environmental challenges.

摘要
