Minimally Invasive Treatments of the Thyroid: The European Guidelines
摘要
This chapter presents the latest guidelines for minimally invasive thyroid treatments (MITT) in managing benign and selected malignant thyroid lesions. MITT, including laser ablation (LA), radiofrequency ablation (RFA), microwave ablation (MWA), and other techniques, offer less invasive alternatives to surgery and radioiodine therapy. These treatments are effective in reducing benign nodules’ volume with fewer complications. For papillary thyroid microcarcinomas (PTMC) and recurrent differentiated thyroid carcinomas (DTC), MITT and active surveillance are proposed for patients at high surgical risk or those seeking less aggressive treatments. This chapter also addresses MITT’s role in managing oligometastatic disease, highlighting its growing clinical use.
