Bridging the Digital Divide: Enhancing Internet Accessibility for Students with Special Needs via Application Easy Reading
摘要
Media skills have become increasingly important in the education system. In Germany, the expansion of digital infrastructure and equipment in schools was prioritized until 2021, resulting in new challenges and a need for innovation. In this context, customizable applications and software offer great potential for pupils of different expertise levels. The Easy Reading app, originally developed as a browser plug-in, offers such customizability. Therefore, it was examined for its potential use in the classroom. The presented study investigates the potential of media literacy education using individualized approaches through classroom observations and teacher interviews. Findings highlight promising opportunities but reveal that the prototype requires further refinement to unfold its full potential. The research underscores the importance of integrating technical and pedagogical considerations for effective innovation implementation.
