Since the 1950s, research on Latin American economic history has been dominated by the Marxist and Dependencia paradigms. However, since the beginning of the twenty-first century, there has been a trend toward an increasing influence of the cliometric and new institutionalist approach. As a result, there have been significant advances in research areas such as anthropometrics, social savings of railroads, and the long-term effects of colonial institutions, such as encomiendas and slavery.

摘要

Since the 1950s, research on Latin American economic history has been dominated by the Marxist and Dependencia paradigms. However, since the beginning of the twenty-first century, there has been a trend toward an increasing influence of the cliometric and new institutionalist approach.
