Trump’s renewed dialogue with Putin appears to have altered the diplomatic landscape concerning the Russo–Ukraine War, potentially marginalising Europe and Ukraine in critical decision-making that could impact their security. Compared with Russia’s firmness, European leaders’ reactions expose genuine concerns over the gradual erosion of post-Cold War security frameworks and the EU’s declining influence. While sanctions continue to be a primary tool of Western policy, their success remains limited, at best, emphasising the challenges of relying on economic pressure without a clear strategic direction. As great-power negotiations seem to regain significance, Europe’s ability to influence outcomes appears increasingly uncertain. Against this background, this epilogue aims to examine these changing realities and warn that, without a major strategic shift, Europe risks further marginalisation in its role as a key geopolitical player amid the evolving international order.
