The Lake Chad Basin faces several challenges relating to conflict, terrorism, and, more recently, climate change. Cameroon is home to refugees fleeing conflict from nei ghbouring countries while also dealing with increasing internal displacement caused by internal conflicts that are exacerbated by climate change. The scarcity of resources caused by climate change events around the country has resulted in conflict and increasing internal displacement. The chapter explores trends in climate change-induced displacement and discusses the nexus between climate change, conflict and displacement. The chapter further investigates the (in)sufficiency of international legal frameworks to adequately address the issues arising from climate change displacement. Using climate-induced internal displacement in the Far North region of Cameroon, the contribution evaluates the adequacy of existing international legal frameworks. It also analyses laws protecting the right to a healthy environment in Cameroon to establish the rights accruing to persons internally displaced due to climate change. The chapter concludes by proposing legal and policy improvements for the protection of the right to a healthy environment for persons displaced by climate change events in Cameroon.
