This chapter investigates the causes of wetland ecosystem degradation and loss in Cameroon. It illustrates how the Cameroonian legislature has been struggling to stop this very fragile but important ecosystem from degradation and loss caused by anthropogenic factors. The chapter demonstrates that the degradation of wetland ecosystems in Cameroon contributes to the disruption of the constitutional protection of the right to a healthy environment. Based on doctrinal research methodology, It argues that for the Cameroonian government to succeed in curbing wetland ecosystem degradation and loss, the existing laws and regulations should be effectively implemented. The chapter concludes that sustainable agriculture, the need for national wetland legislation, sensitization, promotion of sustainable agriculture, and the necessity to properly care for septic tanks will effectively contribute to checking wetland ecosystem degradation and destruction and enhance environmental protection in Cameroon.

摘要

This chapter investigates the causes of wetland ecosystem degradation and loss in Cameroon.
