Robotic Waste Sorting in Municipal Solid Waste Recycling Plants

The article describes the results of research on the development of a robotic system for sorting solid municipal waste. A prototype sorting system with an RGB vision system was developed. In order to establish communication between the computer responsible for processing the image from the camera and the robot controller, proprietary software was developed. Communication between the vision system software and the control system of the industrial robot and the belt conveyor transporting waste was solved. Laboratory tests operation of the developed solutions were carried out.
