Modernization of the Drive System of the Sweeping Attachment on the Example of the ZM-260V Sweepers

The operational reality surrounding technical objects requires users to apply improvements or modernizations of existing technical solutions. This is related to increasingly better products, components or manufacturing techno-logy, but also to access to various types of research that support existing solutions. This is important both from the point of view of the end customer who uses the product and its safety during use, but also from the manufacturer, who has specific manufacturing technologies. Meeting customer needs allows manufacturers to make a product that will meet specific customer requirements, contributing to developing a better place among the competition on the market. Hence, the analysis of needs is very important, but also the use and testing of the product, to assess the possibility of applying certain improvements. This study refers to the modernization works that were carried out by the Authors to modernize the drive system, from the main engine to the sweeping equipment, in the WUKO ZM-260V vacuum sweeper. The modernization of the aforementioned drive system consisted in replacing the classic drive shaft, terminated with Cardan joints, with a hydraulic transmission with appropriately selected parameters. The study aims to use a hydraulic transmission, enabling smooth start-up and stopping of the components, including the sweeping equipment of the subject WUKO ZM-260V sweeper. The aforementioned work was carried out due to the liquidation of the WUKO Municipal Equipment Factory in Łódź. It is worth mentioning that despite the liquidation of the aforementioned factory, many machines manufactured there are still in use.
