Modern textbooks are dominated by neoclassical reasoning in supply and demand categories, while little attention is paid to the conception of the predecessors. Although one sometimes encounters the stereotype that the theory of value, particularly the labour theory of value, is a supporting pillar in the doctrinal system of the ancestors, there is usually no further explanation as to why the classics devoted themselves so intensively to this issue.
