In recent years, brain-machine interfaces (BMIs) have been developed and have found practical applications, in particular, for people with disabilities. However, ethical concerns, such as the protection of mental privacy and other social issues related to such BMI usage remain underexplored and are often overlooked. To fill the gaps, a questionnaire survey of people with and without disabilities was conducted. This study attempts to identify the overall tendencies and differences between the responses of the two groups in terms of the usefulness, risks and ethical concerns of BMIs based on the survey results.

摘要

In recent years, brain-machine interfaces (BMIs) have been developed and have found practical applications, in particular, for people with disabilities. However, ethical concerns, such as the protection of mental privacy and other social issues related to such BMI usage remain underexplored and are often overlooked. To fill the gaps, a questionnaire survey of people with and without disabilities was conducted. This study attempts to identify the overall tendencies and differences between the responses of the two groups in terms of the usefulness, risks and ethical concerns of BMIs based on the survey results.
