I spite of the doom and gloom of the previous section, we all know that science has been generally successful in reducing the mind-boggling complexity of the world surrounding us to concise mathematical formulas (or “laws of nature” as we usually call them). Yes, it is entirely possible that we may have hit a wall of non-renormalizability here and there. It is also true that some mathematical models, while seemingly plausible, describe the world using too many degrees of freedom to be useful.
