Introduction
摘要
This book’s analyses follow the debate around GAI/ChatGPT in a field research manner, from the official enthusiasm and fear of exam cheating to the approval of GAI technologies as a learning tool. The book’s position is that ChatGPT, based on language models and machine learning, must be confronted with the basis to which the practical contexts and use of AI technology refer. It is thus not AI technology or computer science, but rather the social and humanistic theories of speech acts, communication theories and models, that should carry the analyses through. Against this background, the chapter introduces the characteristic analytical apparatus and provides a first insight into the chatbot’s textual universe and humanized machine language. At the same time, the analytical approach is introduced, where the public debates, with ChatGPT as a charismatic center, are followed through the political discourses and subject professional arguments and practical cases. In continuation of this, an overview of the book’s chapter analyses is given, emphasizing the ethnographic principle, Following the Field of Practice … as a process and guideline for both the analysis strategy and the production of the book.
