Geriatric trauma has been increasing across the nation as the US population ages. Unlike younger patients, the geriatric patient may present differently and have more severe injuries due to unique physiologic characteristics. It is essential that appropriate workup and management is initiated to avoid missing serious injuries. Falls are the leading mechanism of injury in this age group followed by motor vehicle collisions. Once admitted, the patient and family should be engaged in goals of care conversations to align treatments with the patient’s wishes.
