Disasters or crises may be natural or man-made but share the commonality of overwhelming resources. Therefore, preparations that support the ability to continue to render care regardless of disaster or crisis etiology are essential for every healthcare facility. Public preparation for and participation in disaster or crisis response is increasingly common. Specific elements of disaster preparation, response, triage, and aftercare should be taught, reinforced, and practiced for every healthcare worker regardless of parent training discipline or employment line. Unique aspects including care ethics, management of service animals, and altered level of care are key aspects that merit multiprofessional participation and reexamination after each disaster or crisis.
