Ensuring a patent and protected airway is an essential step in the evaluation of an injured patients. When providers are faced with a “connot ventilate, cannot intubate” scenario, a timely establishment of surgical airway in the form of cricothyroidotomy becomes paramount. This chapter reviews the indications for and the surgical techniques needed to perform a cricothyroidotomy.
