After the end of colonialism, post-independent sub-Saharan Africa (SSA) inherited weak nascent states, exacerbated by Cold War geopolitics and World Bank and IMFs neoliberal reform agendas. This chapter explores how post-independent economic policies and global geopolitics shaped SSA’s FDI flows.
