The “Pink Aesthetic Concept” in Facial Beauty
摘要
Although personal perception of beauty varies according to ethnicity, periods, socio-cultural situation, and many other environmental factors, the perception of facial aesthetics is mainly consistent with the general population. The harmony of the general outlines of the face with the teeth and gums that appear during speech and smile should be in a way that meets aesthetic expectations to complete facial aesthetics. Therefore, dentists have developed various diagnostic and treatment methods to achieve this face–mouth harmony. The treatment should be decided after carefully evaluating the patient’s characteristics, character, and aesthetic expectations. In addition, the possible results and limitations of the treatment should be explained to the patient in detail. Proper dental anatomy, tooth alignment, and occlusion are insufficient to ensure facial aesthetics. The gingiva surrounding these teeth is also expected to meet specific criteria during function or the smile. The perfect harmony between “pink aesthetics” (gingival aesthetics) and “white aesthetics” (dental aesthetics) is the key to an ideal smile.
