This paper examines the territorial and immediate hydraulic domain of two Cistercian nunneries, Las HuelgasBurgosSanta María la Real de las Huelgas of BurgosBurgos and San VicenteSegoviaSan Vicente el Real of SegoviaSegovia, focusing on the nuns’ strategies for controlling their vassals through water management. It also analyses the hydraulic domain of both convents, highlighting key areas and hydraulic elements within their jurisdiction —such as rights, mills, and orchards—and their evolution throughout the Middle Ages. Furthermore, it compares these two institutions, which differ significantly from one another.
