As a response to the need to quickly detect and act upon the performance deviations that characterise complex Supply Chains (SCs), the concept of the Supply Chain Control Towers (SCCTs) promises to make visible the SC operations by centralising the relevant real-time data in a single information hub, so these can be motorised and controlled, increasing the SC responsiveness and resilience, which in turn improves SC performance. As such, SCCTs have emerged as one of the key topics in SC management, and many companies have implemented them, in some cases reporting substantial advantages. In this chapter, we have extensively reviewed the increasing body of literature on SCCTs, and present a unified definition, components, and functionalities based on this analysis. Published study cases have been analysed in order to identify the potential advantages and implementation strategies. Finally, a number of research lines emerge from the analysis of the literature carried out.

摘要
