At’Onement INC’Corporeal’ is an interactive installation that takes elements of corporate life and reimagines them as a ‘hostess-supported’ experience that is part kindergarten and part exam, culminating in a community board prognosis. The images take the motif of an organisation chart (CEO/CO at top flowing down to directors, managers, experts, and workers). Instead of using text and numerals, each box is represented by an image, compressing historical associations linked to the emergence of these roles. As authority diminishes, so too does the size of the image, with the workers represented as several, replicated prints of postcard-sized images of bored workers. This organisational chart is exhibited on one side of the exhibition, covering a whole wall. In the middle of the room, chairs made for children form classroom-like rows. Each chair has a small clip board, a pencil, blank multiple-choice forms, and a mask. Participants are directed to take a seat and wait until a projection commences. At timed intervals, a PowerPoint projection of the images displayed on the wall commences. The silky voice of a female hostess instructs participants to count figures in the projection. At the conclusion, using the multiple-choice form, they are asked to respond to a short set of questions testing their observations. Then a child’s voice speaks out, inviting participants to relax, expand, and watch the same PowerPoint slides as a story instead. At the conclusion, participants can turn their multiple-choice sheet over and prescribe a better learning experience. As they exit, people can pin their response to a community board (Figs. 11.1, 11.2, 11.3, 11.4 and 11.5).
