The objective of this chapter is to provide a comprehensive foundation for understanding and applying architecture evaluation methods. It elaborates five distinct evaluation approaches—scenario based, model based, formal method based, proof-of-concept (PoC) based, and prototype based—by presenting their overviews, key features, evaluation procedures, representative methods, advantages, and disadvantages. In addition, the chapter provides a detailed exposition of representative evaluation methods under each approach, delineating their fundamental components and analysis techniques to facilitate their effective application across a range of architectural contexts.
