Through an approach that is intended to be both ethnographic and analytical, this chapter aims to analyze the COVID-19 pandemic as a moment of transformation from the logics of dependence to the logics of self-caring through the birth of a medical pan-Africanism with the recognition of expertise from the South by the South. In the first part, we will analyze the coloniality of global health through its discourses and practices during the pandemic moment in the world and in Cameroon; in the second part, we will focus on health practices and the legitimization of traditional medicine; and in the third part, we will focus on the pandemic moment as revealing an epistemic emergency in global health.
