Residential areas are specific parts of human community that afford humankind its right to enjoy privacy and quality health. It also serves as humankind’s shelter against any form of insecurity. However, since 2005, when telecommunication industries in Nigeria became privatized, corporate entities started engaging in the indiscriminate installation of masts. This act has unleashed, and is unleashing, a lot of health havoc on Nigerians. These telecommunication companies were able to carry out such unhealthy practices because of the failure of the government to check these companies’ excesses and sometimes because standards were compromised by regulatory agencies. This chapter derived its inspiration from this background. Therefore, this work aims at exploring the causes of the indiscriminate installation of masts by telecommunication companies in Nigeria; examining instances where the government and corporate entities conspired in the act of the indiscriminate installation of masts, discussing the responsibility of government in checking the indiscriminate installation of telecommunication masts; examining the dangerous effects of the installation of telecommunication masts in residential areas; and determining a way forward. This chapter also seeks to influence policy formulation and contribute to knowledge.
