Integration of Content in TVC+ Through the Second Screen
摘要
Cuban television, with its centralized approach, has been criticized for the homogeneity and simplicity of its content, highlighting the need to diversify the television offering and foster new forms of audience interaction. In this context, the second screen emerges as a promising tool to revitalize the television experience in Cuba. This technology, which involves the use of internet-connected devices in addition to the television, facilitates active viewer participation by allowing them to access additional information, share comments in real time, and interact directly with the content. However, the implementation of the second screen in Cuba faces particular challenges, such as limited internet connectivity. However, the development of technological solutions based on free software and adapted to the country’s conditions could overcome these barriers and bring this tool closer to the Cuban audience. This work aims to expand the functionalities of the previously developed TVC+ system, focusing on integration with social networks. This will allow users to interact in real time, sharing comments, opinions, and experiences while watching programs. The goal is to increase audience participation and enrich the overall television experience.
