The well-documented challenges faced by school leaders in Latin America—such as low funding, high drop-out rates, and poor educational outcomes—require multi-pronged solutions. A commonly overlooked approach to address these challenges is community voice and engagement. In this chapter, we provide a descriptive overview of scholarship on community voice and engagement in educational leadership, specifically focusing on Peru, with implications for Latin America more broadly. Drawing from these literatures and our collective 20+ years of work and research on education in Peru, we offer a capacity-building framework for school leaders to effectively undertake asset-based community engagement and voice research to identify root causes of educational challenges and address them.

摘要
