Application and Analysis of Energy-Saving and Carbon-Reduction Technologies for Green Highway

To improve the low-carbon level of highway engineering construction, a series of energy-saving and carbon-reduction technologies have been implemented in typical green highway demonstration projects in Anhui Province, and a calculation method for carbon reduction in highway engineering based on the emission factor method is proposed, to comprehensively reduce life cycle energy consumption and carbon emissions. In the material production stage, by making full use of the existing road materials, the spoil of the Yangtze River and Huaihe River, tunnel slag and other channel resources, with the application of low-carbon and energy-saving materials, made the overall reduction of embodied carbon in materials. In the construction stage, the construction organization is optimized through industrial construction and assembly construction, and energy-saving and emission reduction technologies are applied to the temporary station and on-site construction process to save construction energy consumption. In the operation and maintenance stage, through the introduction of “green power + carbon sink” to build a near-zero carbon service area, the operation of carbon emissions is comprehensively reduced, and steel structure bridges and low-carbon pavements are used to improve the durability of the project and reduce maintenance energy consumption. Through the implementation of various energy-saving and carbon-reduction technologies list for the life cycle of highway, it provides practical experience for the implementation of green and low-carbon development requirements in highway construction.
