Research on the Mountain-Water Pattern of Traditional Villages Based on Microclimate Adaptability: A Case Study of the Fengjie Karst Region

The mountain-water patterns of villages significantly influence the local light and wind environments. This study focuses on traditional villages in the Karst region of Fengjie County, Chongqing. Using Climate Consultant to analyze the climatic characteristics of the Fengjie region, combined with field survey data, the study examines key factors affecting the microclimate of traditional villages in karst landscapes, including altitude, mountain-water patterns, and vegetation. Additionally, five villages with representative terrain patterns were parametrically modeled. Taking the wind environment as the starting point, Computational Fluid Dynamics technology was employed to simulate wind conditions, verifying the regulatory effects of mountainous terrain on wind speed. The findings reveal that mountainous terrain significantly influences the wind environment: low-lying areas form calm zones, while narrow valleys and windward slopes experience significantly increased wind speeds, making them unsuitable for habitation. Furthermore, the study analyzes the wisdom embedded in village site selection, offering insights for the sustainable development and microclimate improvement of traditional villages in karst regions.
