This study utilises data from Jilin Jianzhu University, combining survey and research methods, while considering the variability in carbon emissions and other influencing factors. It then conducts the carbon emission accounting of the campus in 2023. The results demonstrate that the carbon emission of Jilin Jianzhu University in 2023 will be 25584.47t, with a per capita carbon emission of 1.3t. Of this, the campus buildings will account for 18523.26t, while the campus life will contribute 6954.4t. The campus transport will be responsible for 106.81t of carbon emissions, with the majority of these emissions originating from two main sources: the campus building and campus life. The distribution of these emissions is as follows: heat power, electric power, and living rubbish. Collectively, these three sources account for 82.4% of the total carbon emissions produced by the university. Together, these three components account for 82.4% of the university’s overall carbon emissions. The findings of this study were benchmarked against those of other universities in China and abroad, revealing notable discrepancies in carbon emissions across different campuses. The results of this study offer a valuable theoretical foundation and practical insights for university campuses seeking to reduce their carbon footprint and develop sustainable, green campuses.
