Melatonin is a hormone produced naturally by the pineal gland in the brain, but also the intestines, skin, retina, testes, ovaries, glial, microglial cells, and even lymphocytes. Supplementation of melatonin may present benefits on cardiovascular and cerebral mechanisms, especially during brain injury.
