Climate change has led to an increase in extreme precipitation and a marked rise in the global incidence of geological disasters, making it crucial to improve risk resilience. This chapter discusses the family’s perceived dangerousness, perception bias and risk resilience in geological disasters from the perspective of gender. First, a competency-based household resilience assessment framework was constructed, and perceived dangerousness and perceived bias were quantified. The impact of female ownership on the formation of low perceived dangerousness and high resilience families was analyzed by combining propensity score matching (PSM). The findings are as follows: (1) There are significant differences in the overall perceived dangerousness scores of different villages, and there are gender differences, and the proportion of females with small perception bias is the highest. (2) The household resilience score mainly showed a medium high level, but the distribution of the three core abilities was uneven. (3) The coupling type distribution of perceived dangerousness and household resilience showed regional diversity. Most villages were dominated by families with low perceived dangerousness and a low proportion of families with high resilience. (4) The PSM results showed that female heads of household significantly positively affected the formation of families with low perceived dangerousness and high resilience to some extent, and the results passed the robustness test. However, women’s role in family decision-making is still limited by gender roles and social culture. The paper highlights the importance of gender factors in building household resilience and suggests that policies should empower women with more decision-making power and resource support to make disaster management more gender-sensitive and communities more resilient to disasters.
