This chapter slightly departs from the previous chapters and moves onto discuss emotions in the archaeology discipline. Specifically, archaeologists have been wary of acknowledging the importance of empathy for archaeology. This chapter discusses empathy’s role for archaeological education, empathy theory, and technologies as types of emotional ‘prostheses’. This chapter briefly points to archaeology’s potential in making a difference in the world. Emotions are a crucial point to note here as well when we discuss ‘loaded’ topics with the public. Archaeology has a lot of societal potential, and the classroom and media are important venues for teaching archaeology.
