As the problem of obesity evolves and grows, so too does the role of the duodenal switch. The duodenal switch is the most effective bariatric surgery currently performed for weight loss and treatment of diabetes type 2. As obesity becomes more prevalent and more severe, the value of the duodenal switch increases. Additionally, this procedure is an excellent conversion operation for weight regain after sleeve gastrectomy. The technical difficulty of the duodenal switch can be ameliorated by the current robotic platform available. In this chapter, we present the steps to the duodenal switch using the current daVinci Robot platform.
