Role of Tumor Markers in Early Detection and Prevention of Complications in Oncology
摘要
The early diagnosis and screening of cancers are essential components in comprehensive cancer control but are fundamentally different regarding the resource and infrastructure requirements. The early diagnosis of cancer is usually focused on those patients who have symptoms and signs that are consistent with those of cancer. Clinicians need more powerful tools to detect and track cancer, which can be a difficult task at the earlier stages of the disease or even before a patient develops the symptoms. The main purpose of the early detection is to identify the disease at the earliest possible opportunity and link to diagnosis and treatment without delay. In this chapter, the role of tumor markers in early cancer detection and prevention of complications is presented based on the most up-to-date and best scientific evidence.
