Globally, colorectal malignancies (CRC) continue to be one of the leading causes of cancer-related fatalities. Despite improvements in our understanding of the CRC’s start, progression, and prevention of metastasis, it continues to be a serious health concern. Once again, improvements have been made in mCRC molecular profiling and genomic profiling, both of which try to find patients with suitable treatments. Finding trustworthy biomarkers in metastatic CRC (mCRC) has received a lot of attention recently with the goal of improving patient outcomes, such as preventing missed therapy opportunities or excessive toxicity. Studies on the transcriptome, proteome, metabolomics, and lipidomics, as well as the genome and epigenome, are currently helping to create new CRC and mCRC biomarkers. New diagnostic, prognostic, and predictive biomarkers for mCRC have been proposed by researchers. In addition to the current biomarkers, new biomarkers such as CRC and mCRC may suggest particular treatment plans depending on the biomarker status. This chapter covers diagnostic, prognostic, and predictive biomarkers for CRC and mCRC as well as potential uses for these biomarkers in the future.
