The integration of ICTs in the educational field has established a basis for the provision of technological tools and online learning tools. At both European and national level, the Member States of the European Union have developed and adopted a variety of e-learning methods in support of the whole educational work, not only in the field of teaching but also in two-way communication and regarding information on school issues. This chapter examines the design and development of practical methods for the implementation of e-learning in education and consists of five sections that cover the integration and adoption of modern methods of education in school, identifying: (a) European and national policies for the adoption of e-learning, (b) information systems and tools for the application of digital methods in the educational process, (c) the conditions, criteria, factors and challenges for the successful integration of ICTs in education, (d) the role and contribution of school administration in the effective application of digital methods and procedures, and (e) the pedagogical parameters that influence the adoption of information systems and tools, as well as their contribution to tackling learning difficulties.
