Mangrove ecosystems are vital for co-existence of humans and nature in a coastal region. It is known to have several ecological services, not limited to increased fishing productivity, cleaning the water and soil of pollutants and protecting the coastlines from erosion. But the major ecological service of the mangroves is the protection of the coast from natural disasters. So, Ecosystem-based disaster risk reduction (Eco-DRR) is an effective process to reforest degraded tidal flats with mangroves, which can also sequester blue carbon and help reduce the global warming burden. This research sheds light on existing peer-reviewed literature in the domain of Eco-DRR and mangroves. Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) have been used to narrow down research in the cross-section of mangroves and Eco-DRR, till March 2024. This chapter also focuses on conservation policies revolving around mangrove ecosystems and case studies related to mangrove conservation with community participation.
