Artificial intelligence has brought about changes in the routines and day-to-day work of journalism and communication, occupying spaces traditionally managed by humans, with consequences that make it possible to improve content production, taking into account that the transparency of the sources and methods used are key to the treatment of information. In order to learn about these aspects that are disaggregated from the AI effect, this research is based on interviews with experts in the field of communication and journalism and explores the trends that are emerging in the field of study, the essential skills that communicators and journalists must have in the digital era, as well as the most in-demand skills and how artificial intelligence should be incorporated into training. Among the most noteworthy conclusions is that AI is a trend-setter in university education. It is established that the most important skills and competences for teaching are technical, soft skills, critical thinking, adaptability, and innovation.
