The demand for skilled technicians in Maintenance Organizations (MOA) is critical to maintaining aviation safety and operational efficiency. Selecting suitable candidate technicians is a complex, multi-dimensional process involving numerous competencies that directly impact performance and adherence to safety standards. This study presents a structured analysis of the essential criteria and sub-criteria necessary for evaluating candidate technicians. Through a comprehensive literature review and analysis of industry job postings, this research identifies four main criteria: Technical Knowledge and Skills, Certifications and Qualifications, Safety and Compliance, and Work Ethic and Problem-Solving. Each criterion encompasses multiple sub-criteria, including knowledge of aircraft systems, diagnostic skills, safety regulation comprehension, and the ability to work under time pressure. Proficiency in English and competency in reading maintenance documents are also recognized as crucial for understanding international standards and complex technical information. By focusing solely on defining and refining these criteria, this paper aims to provide a foundational framework that supports standardized competency evaluation, contributing to more effective selection processes within MOAs. This initial research offers an essential basis for future studies on technician selection in the aviation industry, prioritizing competency and safety in MOAs.
