Case 28: Hypothalamic Hamartoma with Cortical Metabolic Abnormalities
摘要
Hypothalamic hamartomas are lesions associated with chronic seizures and an epileptic encephalopathy of heterogeneous severity. We describe a case of [18F]FDG PET brain imaging in a patient with a left sided hypothalamic hamartoma showing extensive left hemispheric cortical metabolic abnormalities. A careful multidisciplinary analysis of clinical, electrophysiological, and imaging data allowed to exclude the presence of a concomitant cortical lesion in the hypometabolic areas. The patient underwent radio-surgery, with a favorable outcome.
