Introduction
摘要
The history of a Florentine business group that was active in the first half of the sixteenth century in the most important economic markets of the time. Florence, Pisa, Cádiz, Seville, Venice, Valladolid, Rome, Antwerp and Lyon were the cities where these merchants organised their financial and trade activity, by founding companies and through prolonged stays. This study on international trade explores three historiographic themes. The first is that of migration in Europe during the Middle Ages and early modern period. The second concerns research on the families of Renaissance Florence. The third, which is less studied, pertains to ‘intercultural trade’, a term that draws attention to the effects of the trade diasporas, residence outside one’s home country and the consequential relationships with different peoples, cultures and religions. Contact between and the intersection of different cultures had an important effect on taste and the quality of the goods exchanged.
