Buying Behaviour of Muslim Consumer Towards Halal Food Products: A Review and Bibliometric Analysis

The acquaintances ‘on purchasing halal food products have evolved into hot area of research attention in recent days. This study focuses on the bibliometric analysis of the factors regarding the purchasing behaviour of Muslims concerning halal food products using 613 academic articles that were published from 2015 to 2024 available on the Scopus database. The study uses VOSviewer to visualize determining trends of the research and the direction of co-citations and keywords of the research. According to the study, significant sources of halal food consumption are religious obligations, the assurance of the halal certification, and the sense of quality of the product. The halal product is appealing due to the perception of proper ethical and safety standards which value extends to even Non-Muslims. The paper presents the main players of the process, the most relevant journals, and the most active research areas. It is suggested that future halal certification studies be undertaken in recipients of alternative proteins, recipients’ relative sustainability studies and a region approach which would help sires and business people eyeing the growing halal market.
