The research consists of two diagnoses, first on soft skills of students of the Hotel Business Administration degree at the Universidad Latina de Costa Rica during the third quarter of 2019 to the third quarter of 2022, the purpose of which is to find out the opinion that students have about their non-cognitive skills. In parallel to this first one, another diagnosis was carried out on national hotel organizations during the second quarter of 2022 to the third quarter of 2023, the purpose of which is to find out which soft skills they value, and which are the most difficult to find in future hospitality professionals. The diagnoses provided a large and very valuable data, so the researchers decided to divide the research into phases, Phase I is presented here. This study has two hypotheses: if students know their soft skills, will their adaptation to the business environment be easier? And how important is it for national hospitality organizations to know the soft skills of their future collaborators? The methodology used was mixed, the population consisted of 61 students and 27 national hotel companies. The general objective of the study was to diagnose the soft skills of several options given by the researchers to the students and to find out what the companies say about which soft skills are most valued and which are the most difficult to find in graduates.
